ADR Training for dangerous goods

Did you know that CJC Transport is an approved training centre for ADR Dangerous Goods Training? Our accreditation from the Department of Transport means that we are now authorised to deliver comprehensive ADR training, - something which is a legal requirement if you wish to transport dangerous goods or hazardous substances.

Our recognition as an approved ADR centre is the latest stage of our business growth, following on from the official opening of our purpose-built training centre at our headquarters in Great Yarmouth.

As a leading provider in training delivery for the freight and passenger transport sectors, our expansion into ADR training is a further example of how we are continually developing and refining our services to the benefit of local fleet operators.

What is ADR training and why is it important?

ADR stands for “Accord européen relatif au transport international des marchandises Dangereuses par Route”. It is written in French to signify a European agreement which discusses the international transportation of dangerous goods by road.

An ADR certificate is an additional licence for HGV and LGV drivers, showing that they have completed training to understand their legal responsibility to adhering to dangerous goods regulations. With an ADR training certificate, freight operators and drivers can show that they are fully equipped and prepared to transport dangerous or hazardous goods.

Who needs an ADR certificate?

Your drivers, employees and senior management staff all need to have an ADR licence to confirm that you know how to suitably deal with hazardous substances.

ADR training certificates can only be delivered from authorised training centres.

One of the reasons why we are so excited by our authorisation is that it shows we have a Notice of Approval issued by the Department of Transport. It confirms that our training deliver matches the high standards set out by the ADR agreement, and that we are approved to deliver the licence certification.

Not only does this open our business up to new growth areas, but it provides an endorsement that we’re working to the best of our ability to support freight and passenger transport operators.

But what does this mean for you?

As an approved ADR training centre, we can take you and your team through the stringent ADR training, ensuring that you’ve completed theoretical and practical learning.

Along the way, you’ll learn about

  • The dangers of transporting dangerous goods.

  • What preventative safety measures are required for different types of hazards.

  • How to take active steps to prevent an incident from occurring.

  • How to apply health and safety protocols to protect yourself, the general public and the environment in the event of an incident.

Upon conclusion of the training, you’ll be asked to participate in a multiple-choice examination. Once you’ve passed the exam, you will receive an ADR licence, which will remain valid for five years.

Why choose CJC Transport for your ADR courses?

Our dedicated training centre in Great Yarmouth is ideally suited for operators searching for training for HGV and LGV drivers. Thanks to our purpose-built facilities, we can offer practical and theoretical learning that covers all aspects of ADR.

Led by our dedicated transport consultant Carl Crysell, our ADR courses are designed to be flexible and tailored to you. Dangerous goods and hazardous substances are split into nine specific classes – as a minimum, your ADR licence can be issued for a single class of dangerous goods.

Here at CJC Training, we want your ADR training to offer flexibility and an ability to scale up your business. That’s why as standard, we cover all classes of dangerous goods – ensuring that you and your team are aware and protected with the right ADR licences in place.

The nine categories of dangerous goods

  1. Explosive substances or objects

  2. Gases

  3. Flammable liquids

  4. Flammable solids

  5. Oxidising substances

  6. Toxic and infectious substances

  7. Radioactive substances

  8. Corrosive substances

  9. Various hazardous substances

Integration with CPC Periodic hours

As specialist providers of CPC training, we can help your freight or passenger transport business make the most of your training.

Our trainers will work with your business to maximise the value of your training, combining your ADR course with your driver CPC hours. That way, you can feel confident that you are exceeding your training commitment and providing continuous opportunities for your drivers to upskill themselves and remain legal to drive.

Beyond that, our expertise as road transport consultants means that we can work with your administrative staff to keep track of any driver training requirements. By proactively monitoring your team licences, and booking early training, we can ensure that your business is protected from any little-known expiry dates. By focusing on any upcoming deadlines, we can keep your business on track, with minimal disruption caused by driver training.
